From San Ysidro:

At San Ysidro turn off of US 550 onto NM 4.  Continue on NM 4 for about 33miles (east toward Los Alamos).  Turn right onto Forest Road 10 slightly past state mile marker 33 (approximately 7 miles past La Cueva, or 15 miles past Jemez Springs).  This turn is just before the mailboxes on the left side of the highway.  Take Forest Road 10 until you get to Hovenweep Loop (either the first or second street on the right side of this dirt road).  Jan's house is in the middle of the loop at 261 Hovenweep Loop.  The second street on the right has a more gentle grade.  Click HERE for a large area map.

From Los Alamos or Sante Fe:

Start your trip odometer at the Los Alamos "back gate" (intersection of NM 502 and NM 4).  Drive west into the mountains, towards Jemez Springs, on NM 4. At mile16 on your odometer (or just past state mile marker 34) you will arrive at a large group of mail boxes on the right side of the highway.  Turn left just past these mail boxes (marked Forest Road 10 to Ponderosa) and take this dirt road until you get to Hovenweep Loop (either the first or the second street on the right side of this dirt road).  Jan's house is in the middle of the loop at 261 Hovenweep Loop.  The second street on the right has a more gentle grade.  Click HERE for a large area map.
